The type of small (Sretenskaya) Church of the Winter Palace, restored after the fire of 1837, is captured. The house of the Imperial Church was built according to the project of Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1768, reconstructed by Vasily Stasov in 1838–1839 with the active participation of Nicholas I. Under him, the church received the status of the cathedral, where annually on December 14, services were performed in the memory of the tragic events of the emperor’s ascent to the throne.
