Maria Nikolaevna (August 18, 1819, Pavlovsk − February 21, 1876, St. Petersburg) − The daughter of Emperor Nicholas I and Alexandra Fedorovna, nee Princess Prussian, sister of Emperor Alexander II. In the first marriage (1839−1852) − Wife of Maximilian Evgeny Joseph Napoleon, Duke of Leichtenberg, in the second, Morganatic (1853−1876), − Count Grigory Alexandrovich Stroganov. Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna (1819–1876) is the eldest daughter of Emperor Nicholas I. In 1839 she married the Duke of Maximilian Leuchtenberg. After the death of her husband, she was in a morganatic marriage with Count G. AND. Stroganov. Since 1852 – President of the IAX, chairman of the Society for the Promotion of Artists.

Olga Nikolaevna (September 11, 1822, St. Petersburg − October 30, 1892, Friedrichshafen) − Grand Duchess, daughter of Emperor Nicholas I and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. Since 1846, the wife of the Crown Prince, later King Charles I Württemberg.

Olga Nikolaevna (1822-1892) – Grand Duchess, second daughter of Emperor Nicholas I and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. In 1846 she married the hereditary prince Karl Württemberg, who became king Charles I in 1864. Engaged in charity, left memories "Sleep of youth".

The portrait was written in 1838 by order of Emperor Nicholas I. For this work, the artist was awarded a diamond ring.
