The artist is unknown
The young man is depicted for drawing; In front of him on the table – a sheet of paper, in the left hand the Reisfeder is a metal tube with a clip for a barrel – a tool for drawing. The composition of the portrait, a gaze – as if watching in the mirror – suggest that this is a self -portrait of a young artist. It is very possible that the portrait was written by a Moscow painter, a student of the “full -scale class”, or “art class” (created in 1832, in 1843 transformed into Mucos), the founder of which was Yegor Ivanovich Makovsky, who showed a special tendency and encouraged interest in genre painting.
