The artist is unknown
The landscape belongs to the painting of a painter who clearly did not receive an academic education, but subtly felt the peculiarities of the dim Russian nature. He chose a rather unsightly corner of the forest for the transfer on the canvas – two peasant girls settled on the edge of a swampy clearing with broken Christmas trees, on the right – dry trees, a stump of birch trunk with a half -rolled bark. In everything, a reaction growing by the middle of the 19th century is felt to the academic beautifulness of Italianizing landscapes, which later fully manifested in the landscapes of artists of critical realism.
