Sinop battle (November 18 (30), 1853)-the victory of the Russian Black Sea Fleet under the command of Vice Admiral P.With. Nakhimova (1802 – 1855) above the Turkish squadron at Cape Sinop. The defeat of the fleet of the Ottoman Empire during the Crimean War (1853 – 1856) ended the last major battle of sailing fleets in history. The event is celebrated as one of the days of military glory of Russia – December 1.
