Work dates back to the early period of the artist’s work. In the early 1850s, during the years of study at the Academy of Arts, Bogolyubov repeatedly turned to the creation of the types of St. Petersburg. He wrote mainly panoramic landscapes of the coast of the Neva. Contemporaries noted his talent as "painter actually water". In a work that perfectly conveys the strict beauty of architectural ensembles, the influence of the romantic landscape painting and the work of Aivazovsky, which the artist was fond of at that time, is felt.
