The sketches of Alexander Ivanov to the picture “The Phenomenon of the Messiah” – a special art world. Hundreds of sketches, each of which is an independent, internally perfect, finished work, sometimes plotly independent of a large picture, but certainly preserves ideological and aesthetic contact with it. Type, individual groups or plastic motifs are repeated repeatedly, finding the search for emotional formulas. For example, the “first -planned middle group” – “an old man and a boy rising from the water” – became an object of at least six sketches.
