The artist is Vorobyov
The construction of the St. Isaac’s Cathedral of Auguste Montferrand (1818-1858) took several decades and became the most important event in the life of St. Petersburg. The picture dates back to 1844, when the construction of the Isaac’s Cathedral was in full swing. However, like other artists, Vorobyov wrote the monument during his construction as if he was finished.
Isaacievsky Cathedral was consecrated in the presence of Tsar Alexander II on May 30, 1858 and became the cathedral of the Russian capital. The ensemble of Senate Square, preserved to this day, was formed in the 1840s, when the Admiralty Canal was enclosed in the pipe and filled with water.
