Less spectacular than early "Lunar nights" artist, but a quiet and soulful picture, apparently, depicts "Holy place" Eastern Christians – Athos. Integral, at the same time it is more detailed in the outline of the area and its peculiar color. The sea and rocks flooded with ghostly light, fortress fortifications on the shore, the appearance of an ancient monastery at the overgrown with abundant vegetation of the mountain slope, the light of the lamp in the window, perceived as meek prayer to the Lord, the motive immersed in reading the gray -turning monk in the foreground romantes the past and modernity of the depicted place, enhance the feeling of poured in the world of grace.
